CLEVA
Cleva began developing his gift in music at the early age of five years old, training in both classical piano and electric / acoustic guitars. As a teenager, Cleva began developing his style as a lyricist, which has been heavily influenced by Dr. Dre, DJ Quik, Tupac, Snoop Doggy Dogg, Tha Dogg Pound, Ant Banks, Notorious Big and Outkast just to name a few.
Eventually, Cleva began hanging out at different recording
studios and quickly became a student in the art, of
production. Falling in love with composing tracks,
he soon realized that one of the weaknesses in the
game was the lack of musical originality. |
 |
So
he refused to sample any compositions and decided
to write everything himself. At 18, he returned to
his musical roots with intense training for three
years in jazz theory on both piano and guitar.
In 2004, Cleva recorded his first
debut album THE GAME OF LIFE. Thereís a rare maturity found on this albumís concept. A maturity that expresses his lifeís experiences and how Cleva learned to turn these life lessons into skillful life strategies. LOOK BELOW the first single describes his journey of rising to the top and reign in the rap world. Itís layers of musical melodies are up-beat and danceable. MAMACITA the 2nd. single released is a writ of passage and rude awakening on how a playaí got played. With its Latin groove and syncopated percussions, the song amalgamates Spanglish in its story line. Cleva has a response to haters in the game of life with WHAT NOW? Bomb beats and the heat on this track drives the listener into dealing with enemies, in oneís
inner circle.
Cleva was a guest artist on the Toni, Tone, Tony Grammy Celebration hosted by Alicia Keys and was opening act for DJ Quik. He continues to generate a street following by performing in various night clubs and events, at radio stations. Cleva creates his original repertoire for his scheduled 2006-2007 new releases, on Birmingham Entertainment
